During a NSF research cruise to research the oceans biological carbon pump in the Pacific and test robotic floats, a Berkeley Lab science writer documented the trip aboard the R/V Oceanus. The research cruises main goal was to test and collect data from Carbon Flux Explorers (CFE-Cal) to better understand the biological processes off the coast of California.
