R/V Thompson is ready to get back to business! The vessel's 18-month mid-life refit has extended her service life and included important upgrades such as the installation of new diesel generator sets, electrical plant, switchboards, drives, control systems, a new pilothouse, numerous auxiliary and science systems, and the installation of over 5 miles of new electrical cabling and 1000's of feet of new piping. The ship has resumed science operations and will head to the Southwest Pacific in early February.
